VIJAYAWADA: In a bizarre attempt manager of the Union Bank of India of Ganguru branch in Penamaluru, has been booked as an accuser for cheating a man by stealing his gold jewellery deposited in the bank under gold loan with forged signatures.

Prabhavathi, who hails from Marribandham village of Nuzividu, was working as the branch manager of Ganguru Union Bank. She had differences with her husband and was living alone.

During her tenure, she transferred the account of Kavuluri Yogeswara Rao, also belonging to Marribandham village, from Hyderabad branch of the Union Bank of India to the Ganguru branch.

When Yogeswara Rao requested access to the locker to secure his 380 grams of gold, Prabhavathi advised him to take gold loan instead of securing the gold in the locker. Following her suggestion, Yogeswara Rao took a loan of Rs.2 lakhs and repaid it in November last year.

However, when Yogeswara Rao inquired about the gold jewellery he had mortgaged in the bank, Prabhavathi claimed that she had the jewelry with her and invited him to discuss the matter at her house in Ganguru.

During their conversation, she expressed her love for him and proposed marriage. She also mentioned that she had already ordered the creation of another ornament (Vaddanam) using the gold.

Yogeswara Rao, shocked by the turn of events, approached the police and filed a complaint against Prabhavathi, accusing her of forging his signature and taking the gold jewelry without his consent. The police registered a case and are currently investigating the matter.
