HYDERABAD: The District Prohibition & Excise Officer for Medchal Malkajigiri district seized Urvasi Bar and Restaurant in Baghwanthapur, Begumpet, Hyderabad, on Friday. The establishment was found hosting inappropriate dance performances by female employees.

On April 2, 2024, Begumpet Police uncovered evidence that the management and staff of 'Urvashi Bar and Restaurant' engaged in illegal activities involving female employees. These activities included indecent exposure and attempts to involve them in immoral acts, all conducted with the knowledge of management.

Despite being licensed as an inn and bar, the establishment was operating as a pub, featuring inappropriate dance performances by female employees, compromising their dignity. Begumpet Police conducted a raid, resulting in the registration of Crime No. 219/2024 under Section 294 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 70(c) of the CP Act, leading to arrests.

A letter was sent to the District Prohibition & Excise Officer, Medchal Malkajigiri district, urging the cancellation of the establishment's license. Consequently, on April 26, 2024, the District Prohibition & Excise authority seized 'Urvashi Bar and Restaurant.' The Hyderabad city police will take necessary legal action against any further obscene activities.
