NEW DELHI: US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, celebrated his first work anniversary on Tuesday. In a video released by the US Consulate in India to mark the occasion, Garcetti expressed his gratitude, saying, "I never dreamed I'd have the honor and privilege of representing my country here in India, but what a year it's been."

From the Wagah border to Kanyakumari, from Mumbai to Kohima, Garcetti traveled to 22 states and union territories, forming friendships, receiving interesting gifts, and tasting a variety of Indian cuisines in the last 12 months.

"2023 was the most productive year in our history of the last 76 years, marked by numerous accomplishments, paperwork, agreements, and Desi kadak chai. It was also a banner year for trade, with tariffs reduced and nearly USD 200 billion exchanged between India and the USA. From the seabed to the stars, the India-US relationship is reaching new heights," he added.

Garcetti took to 'X' to express his gratitude over his one-year anniversary as the U.S. Ambassador to India, saying, "One year as U.S. Ambassador to India! What a ride it's been - a whirlwind of diplomacy and deepening friendships! From diving into vibrant cultures to strengthening the bond between our nations, every moment has been incredible. But it's the warmth of the people and our shared dreams that truly stole my heart. Here's to many more milestones and writing the next chapter of the #USIndia partnership together."
