HYDERABAD: The United States is opening a modern $340-million consulate building in Hyderabad on March 20. The US Embassy said in a statement on Tuesday that the new consulate represented a tangible investment by the United States in growing the U.S.-India strategic partnership. Ahead of the move, the U.S. Consulate-General, Hyderabad, announced changes for Consular services.

On March 20 at 8:30 a.m., the U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad will officially begin operations at its new facility, located at survey. No. 115/1, Financial District, Nanakramguda, Hyderabad, Telangana, 500032. The consulate would cease its current operations at the Paigah Palace starting at 12:00 noon on March 15. The consulate will be closed to the public from 12:00 noon on March 15 until 8:30 a.m. on March 20.


U.S. citizens who require emergency consular services during the closure should call +91-40-4033 8300.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. on March 20, U.S. citizens who require emergency consular services should call +91-40 6932 8000.

U.S. citizens with non-emergency consular questions are encouraged to email HydACS@state.gov.

Visa applicants who have a visa interviews scheduled between now and March 15 should go to Paigah Palace for their interviews.

Visa applicants who have a visa interview scheduled on or after March 23 should go to the U.S. Consulate’s new facility in Nanakramguda.

All other visas services – including biometrics appointments, “dropbox” appointments (interview waiver), and passport pickup – will continue to take place at the Visa Application Center (VAC), located at the Lower Concourse, HITEC City Metro Station, Madhapur, HYD 500081.

The US Consulate office in Hyderabad will be the largest US consular processing post-South East Asia in terms of both the number of visa windows and the size of the facility. The new office would be 12.2 acres in size.
