HYDERABAD: The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) has decided to celebrate ‘Vinayaka Chavithi' on September 18, 2023 while the Ganesh idol immersion will be held on September 28, 2023.

There was a confusion among devotees and Ganesh pandal organisers about the date of the festival due to tithi falling on two days- September 18 and 19. In this regard, the Utsav Committee members convened a meeting on Wednesday and discussed the issue and measures to be taken for the smooth conduct of Ganesh idol immersion in Hyderabad.

In a statement on Wednesday, BGUS president Bhagwant Rao said that the almanac of Sri Sringeri Kanchi Peetadhipathi suggested that Vinayaka Chavithi should be celebrated on September 18. “We have also gathered the opinions of scholars and announced that the festival will be celebrated on September 18. The State Government should declare a holiday on that day and on September 28 for Ganesh idol immersion,” Bhagwant Rao said.
