HYDERABAD: Congress leaders in Telangana seem to be agitated over Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's recent comments that he had opened the gates to leaders from other parties, including MLAs, to join the grand old party.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister held a special meeting with the leaders of Chevella constituency at the Malkajigiri Parliament constituency camp office. The meeting was attended by Congress Chevella Lok Sabha candidate G Ranjith Reddy who recently defected from the BRS.

In an embarrassment for Revanth Reddy, senior Congress leader and former MLA Kichannagari Laxma Reddy took to the stage and pointed out, "They say you will open doors. If the thieves who cheated the Congress are brought back into the party, leaders and cadres like us are in danger of dying."

The leader was tacitly referring to Ranjith Reddy who joined the party recently. Laxma Reddy was the Congress candidate from Maheshwaram during the Assembly elections but had lost to BRS leader Sabitha Indra Reddy.
