HYDERABAD: Dr. A.V.Satya Kumar of the National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad (NGRI)-Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has received the Telangana Academy of Sciences' Young Scientist Award in Hyderabad.

The Telangana Academy of Sciences, Hyderabad, has awarded Dr. A.V. Satya Kumar, Scientist, CSIR-NGRI, the Young Scientist Award for the year 2021 in the field of Earth, Ocean, Atmospheric, and Environmental Sciences for his significant contributions in gravimetry, structure and tectonics, remote sensing, planetary geosciences, and paleomagnetism.

Dr. A.V. Satya Kumar has published extensively on the deep subsurface structure of the earth and planetary bodies using satellite gravity data, as well as the delineation of structure and tectonic features of rift basins using remote sensing and gravity data.

He is currently conducting paleomagnetic, rock magnetic, and magneto-stratigraphy research studies in different parts of India to better understand the geodynamic conditions and Indian drift history.
