PUNE: South Africa has been consistently achieving high-margin victories in this World Cup. Once again, they secured a commanding win, this time by a margin of 190 runs, against the in-form New Zealand.

The South African bowlers showcased their prowess by dismantling the New Zealand batting lineup, dismissing them for just 167 runs.

South Africa, while batting first, managed to set a big target. Despite the early dismissal of opener Bavuma, Quinton de Kock (114) and van der Dussen (133) showcased their batting brilliance by notching up respective centuries.

The duo's partnership of 200 runs came to an end with de Kock's departure, but Miller (53) continued the onslaught with van der Dussen, contributing significantly with a brisk half-century. Collectively, South Africa amassed a commanding total of 357/4 in their allotted 50 overs.

New Zealand faced an uphill battle from the start of their chase as the South African bowlers launched a relentless attack. Marco Jansen (3/31) and Keshav Maharaj (4/46), in particular, posed a significant threat to the Kiwi batters. Except for Glenn Phillips (60), who displayed some resistance, the rest of the batting lineup struggled to chase down the formidable target.

Consequently, New Zealand was bowled out for just 167 runs in 35.3 overs.

This defeat marks the third consecutive loss for New Zealand, raising doubts about their chances of reaching the semifinals. In contrast, South Africa's dominant performance in this match has put them on the verge of securing a spot in the semifinals.

Scorecard

  • South Africa: 357/4 (50 overs)
  • New Zealand: 167/10 (35.3 overs)
