HYDERABAD: Ten members of the Chenchu tribe were successfully rescued after being trapped by rising waters in the River Dindi Vagu. The group, from Gonaboinapalli village, had been fishing on August 31st when they became stranded near Siddapur in the Achampet mandal.

On Monday, they managed to alert villagers to their plight. Nalgonda SP Sharat Chandra Pawar was informed and immediately dispatched district police, who used drone cameras to locate the stranded group. Food supplies were airdropped to the group. However, due to the strong currents, the rescue operation had to be paused.

On Tuesday morning, with the assistance of the Nagarkurnool police, all ten members were safely brought to shore. The rescue operation involved a coordinated effort between police, fire services, and expert swimmers. DGP Jitender commended the police for their successful efforts.
