VISAKHAPATNAM: Seven students were went missing in the sea after taking a bath at Pudimadaka beach in Atchutapuram mandal of Anakapalli district. Among them, Pawan (19) from Narsipatnam died and a student named Surishetti Teja was rescued by local fishermen. Jagdish of Gopalapatnam, Jaswant of Narsipatnam, Satish of Guntur, Ganesh of Choochukonda and Chandu of Yalamanchili have gone missing. Police, marine police and fishermen are searching for the five missing persons.

It is learned that 12 students of Anakapalli DIET Engineering College came to Sitapalem beach on Friday afternoon after writing the exams in the college. Against this backdrop, seven of them went into the sea for bath and the rest were standing on the shore. It is reported that all of them drowned in the sea due to a sudden wave. As fellow students on the shore screamed, nearby fishermen swooped in and saved Teja. He was shifted to Anakapalli Hospital for treatment.

Minister Gudivada Amarnath reacted to the incident and revealed that the rescue operation was going on for the five missing students. He said that the district collector and SP are monitoring the relief efforts.
