HYDERABAD: A businessman in Hyderabad has lodged a complaint against four fake journalists who have been allegedly harassing and trying to extort money from him for the past two months.

The victim, Manish Jain, 45, from Srinagar Colony, lodged a police complaint on June 17, 2023, stating that the men, who claimed to be local media reporters, had been calling him daily and demanding money. They have also been trespassing on his construction site and taking photos of his building. The accused demanded Jain to pay up and threatened to demolish the building if he failed to comply with their demand.

This is not the first time that Jain was targeted by these alleged extortionists. Five years ago, he was harassed for money by the same accused. Then, he eventually paid them Rs 12 lakh to end their harassment.

The accused have been identified as Kiran, Vijay, Srinivas and Ravinder. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
