Chain snatcher attacks cop with knife after hot chase

HYDERABAD: In a bizarre incident, a head constable sustained injuries when he was attacked by a chain snatcher under the Rama Chandra Puram police limits of Cyberabad on Tuesday. Yadaiah, the policeman, attempted to capture the offender when the latter tried to snatch a gold chain from a woman at Beeranguda and chased him.

However, after nearing the Ashoknagar HIG gate, the thief took out a knife and attacked Yadaiah. On receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and arrested the chain snatcher. Constable Yadaiah, who was grievously injured in this incident, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. After first aid, he was shifted to AIG Hospital in Gachibowli for better treatment.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stephen Ravindra visited the injured head constable and expressed his sympathies. He asked the doctors to provide him with the best of treatment.
