Cyberabad police bust interstate drug racket, seize ganja worth Rs. 3 cr

HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Police on Tuesday apprehended two interstate gangs from Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra who were involved in the transportation of large quantities of ganja using firearms.

Cyberabad police seized a pistol, two magazines, 14 rounds, 1,228 kgs dry ganja, 10 mobile phones, and three vehicles worth Rs 3 crore from the accused in both cases.

The Cyberabad police registered two cases under the NDPS Act 1985 and Arms Act 1959 in Dundigal and Narsingi police stations.

While revealing more information on both cases Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Stephen Raveendra said, acting on specific information, the Special Operations Team (SOT), Medchal Zone, along with Dundigal police had apprehended four inter-state drug peddlers identified as Mohammed Inam, Banti Kashyap, and Mohammad Sada from Muzaffar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, and Lalith Kumar Kashyap from Panipat town bus stand in Haryana.

He said that two additional suspects, Bablu Shinde of Solapur, Maharashtra (primary receiver) and Subhash of Araku Valley, Andhra Pradesh (major supplier), were absconding.

Stephen Raveendra said that Mohammed Inam was an intermediate dropout who was prone to bad vices and a lavish lifestyle.The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Mohammed Inam several times for various property offences.

He said all the accused were involved in the illegal transportation of ganja from the Araku valley of Visakhapatnam to Solapur in Maharashtra via Hyderabad, procuring it from Subhash and supplying it to Bablu Shinde.

They began acquiring ganja from Subhash in the Araku valley of Visakhapatnam and supplying it to Bablu Shinde in Solapur, Maharashtra State.

Mohammed Inam purchased a weapon, magazines, and 14 live rounds from Aas Mohammed. He received an order of 508 kgs of dry ganja from Bablu Shinde, and paid 4.5 lakhs in advance.

Inam and Mohammad Saad traveled to the Araku valley agency area using a Mahindra XUV 500 and Maruti Swift vehicle when Subhash agreed to supply 508kg of dry ganja. They parked the two vehicles in a distant area of the Araku Valley forest and alerted Subash.

Subhash loaded 508 kgs of Dry Ganja in two and three kg packets (for a total of 170 packets) into the Mahindra XUV 500. The contraband weighed approximately (508) kg and was wrapped in brown tape to prevent identification. Later, he delivered the loaded truck to Inam.

They drove an XUV 500 to Solapur, Maharashtra State, via Hyderabad, avoiding a toll plaza due to tight checks in Telangana State. On September 11, SOT Medchal Zone and police station Dundigal teams arrested Inam and Mohammad Saad, who were escorting an XUV 500 near ORR, within Dundigal police's jurisdiction.

The team discovered contraband in an XUV 500 vehicle, seized cars of Banti Kashyap and Laith Kashyap, and 508 kg of dry Ganja and seized other properties all worth Rs. 1,49, 10, 500. The accused claimed they bought Ganja at Rs.3,000 per kg which they were planning to sell for Rs. 25,000 per kg.

Narsingi police arrested two ganja suppliers, seizes 720kg ganja

The Special Operations Team and Narsingi Police apprehended two ganja suppliers, Vishal Chandrakanth Shinde and Sagar Bhaban Deshmukh, and seized 720 kgs of ganja, a DCM vehicle, and three mobile phones all worth Rs 1,64,00,000.

The primary accused, Rahman, a resident of Rajamundry in Andhra Pradesh, is the kingpin in the transportation of dried ganja from Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra State with the assistance of other accused Vishal Chandrakanth Shinde and Sagar Bhaban Deshmukh.

Vishal Chandrakanth Shinde, a Satara District, Maharashtra resident, is accused of transporting Ganja and used to deliver it to Maharashtra residents on the directives of the main accused Rahman.

Rahman, the main accused, used a DCM Vehicle to load 144 packets of dry ganja, weighing approximately 720 KGs, from local cultivators in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh state. On September 11, 2023 he allegedly loaded vegetable crates in a compartment of a goods vehicle and handed it over to accused driver Vishal Chandrakanth Shinde, who then delivered it to Aurangabad.

On September 12, 2023, the SOT Madhapur zone and Narsingi Police intercepted a DCM vehicle, seized 144 ganja packets, 720 kg of the vehicle, and three mobile phones. The accused said that the ganja was bought for Rs. 4,000 per kg and sold for Rs. 20,000 per KG.
