HYDERABAD: A young man and woman, believed to be lovers, were found dead under suspicious circumstances at a house in Phase 7 of the KPHB Colony in Hyderabad on Monday.

According to KPHB Circle Inspector Kishan Kumar, Pothula Jyothi, hailing from Gollavanitippa village of Bhimavaram in West Godavari district, was a divorcee following a short-lived marriage.

Jyothi and her friend Akula Shyam came to the house of his friend Krishna in KPHB on Saturday. While Krishna went to attend a wedding, both Jyothi and Shyam stayed in Krishna's room on Saturday night.

However, the two were found dead when Jyothi's younger brother came to the room on Monday morning. When Jyothi did not respond, her brother opened the window only to see Shyam hanging from the ceiling fan.

The police, who arrived at the scene, broke the doors open and found both Shyam and Jyoti dead. They shifted the bodies to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

During their preliminary investigation, the police found that Jyoti died due to consumption of poison while Shyam’s end came as a result of hanging from the ceiling fan. It was not immediately clear if the the two died by suicide or was there more to it than meets the eye. The police registered a case and started their investigation to find out the exact reasons and the nature of their death.
