HYDERABAD: The Begumpet police successfully apprehended two-wheeler thieves with the help of advanced technological resources provided by the Hyderabad City Police's Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC).

The investigation began on April 13, 2024, following a complaint filed by victim Smit Patel. Patel reported that his TVS Jupiter scooter had been stolen from his residence after he mistakenly left the keys in the vehicle overnight.

Rohini Priyadarshini, DCP North Zone, guided the Begumpet crime team. By reviewing the CCTV footage, the police identified a similar vehicle without a number plate in the Shaheen Nagar area of Chandrayangutta.

Upon locating the matching scooter and verifying its chassis and engine number, the police apprehended the suspect. During questioning, the individual confessed to the theft and revealed that he often acted with a juvenile accomplice.

Their modus operandi involved removing the registration plates of stolen vehicles, performing stunts on the outskirts of the city, and posting videos on social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp.

The investigation further uncovered the duo's involvement in similar thefts across Hyderabad. Three additional stolen vehicles – a Dio, another Jupiter, and an RX-100 – were recovered. These thefts were linked to cases registered at various police stations, including three at Sanath Nagar (Cyberabad Commissionerate), two each at SR Nagar and Ramgopalpet, and one each at Film Nagar and HamuyunNagar police stations (Hyderabad city police commissionerate)
