HYDERABAD: The sleuths of the Commissioner's Task Force, North Zone Team, Hyderabad, along with the police of S.R. Nagar, apprehended a fake CBCID officer on Tuesday and discovered two cheating cases against him at the S.R. Nagar and Raidurgam police stations.

According to the police, the accused booked UBER/OLA Cabs on a regular basis while claiming to be a CBCID Officer and claiming to be acquainted with higher officers in state and Central Intelligence, and travelled to various locations throughout the city.

He also refused to pay the cab fare at the end of the day after visiting star hotels, hospitals, government institutions, and Airport. He even pretended that his department would pay the fees and used to defraud the cab drivers.

The accused identified as 46-year-old Garikiparti Srinivasu who's a resident of Manikonda is a Subject Matter Expert in Additive Layer Manufacturing CTTC.

On December 20, 2022, the Raidurgam police station received a complaint from G.Suresh, a resident of Tellapur, Hyderabad, alleging that he had partnered with 'UBER' Car services with his car bearing number TS 15 UA 9579.

In his complaint, he stated that on December 15, 2022, Srinivas Garikaparthi had booked a ride from Green Park Hotel in Begumpet for use in Hyderabad. He took his cab to various locations in Hyderabad City before getting out at Western Plaza, OU Colony, Shaikpet and not paying car hire charges.

He refused to pay the money, claiming that he was a CBCID officer and that his company would cover the cost. Even after 12 hours, he had not received the amount, and the accused had turned off his cell phone, the complainant claimed.

Srinivas Garikaparthi booked another cab bearing No. TS06 UB 7128 belonging to Vadthya Bhanu Naik for a four-day trip to Bangalore, Mysore on November 29, 2022. He went around Bangalore and Mysore, claiming to have important CBCID tasks there. On December 2, he returned to Hyderabad and refused to pay the Rs.51,000 hire charges. He fled the scene after claiming that his department would pay the hire charges.

Based on the victim's complaint, a case was filed at the SR Nagar police station under the relevant sections.

The Commissioner's Task Force North Zone Team made efforts and apprehended the accused Garikiparti Srinivasu on Tuesday, who was posing as a 'CBCID' Officer and attempting to avoid paying 'UBER' rentals by cheating innocent cab drivers in Hyderabad City.
