KHAMMAM: A farmer in Khammam district climbed a cell phone tower on Wednesday to protest his exclusion from the state government's crop loan waiver scheme.
Narapgou Nagakrishna, a resident of KG Siripuram village in Wyra mandal, is burdened with a bank loan of Rs 88,000. Upon discovering his name was missing from the recently announced loan waiver list, he took drastic action.
Learning that Telangana's Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka was scheduled to visit his village, Nagakrishna climbed a cell phone tower. He vowed to remain there until Vikramarka arrived and promised to resolve his issue.
Local Congress leaders intervened and persuaded Nagakrishna to descend, assuring him that his grievance would be addressed within 15 days.
