HYDERABAD: Five interstate drug peddlers were arrested by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) along with the Narcotics Control Bureau on Sunday for transporting contraband drugs from Parvathipuram, Vizianagaram district, to Pune, Maharashtra.

D. Sunitha Reddy, Superintendent of Police, Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB), told the media that they, along with the Narcotics Control Bureau, had successfully intercepted a truck transporting contraband drugs from Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, to Pune, Maharashtra.

According to the police, all five of the accused are from Osmanabad, Maharashtra, and the main accused, Hasan, offered another accused, Raju Ambadas Shinde, a deal to transport the contraband drugs from Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, to Pune, Maharashtra, and agreed to pay him Rs.2 lakhs as a commission. He hired some of his relatives to smuggle Ganja from Andhra Pradesh to Pune, Maharashtra.

Raju Ambadas Shinde procured a lorry bearing No.MH 41 AU 5287 for transporting Ganja, fabricated a secret compartment in the lorry for concealing 250 kg of Ganja, and procured a car bearing No.MH 25 AW 6616 for piloting the lorry.

According to Hasan's instructions, all five accused visited Maharashtra and travelled to the agency area of Parvathipuram, Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh, where they collected 104 packets of ganja, each containing 2 kg of ganja, and 208 kg from an unknown person. They concealed the 208 kg of ganja in the secret compartment of the truck bearing No.MH 41 AU 5287.

Raju Ambadas Shinde, Balaji Arjun Kale, and Nikhil Nandakumar Ghawali were arrested after driving a truck with car number MH 25 AW 6616 for approximately 20 kilometres.

Based on credible information, on September 2, 2023, the sleuths of the TS Anti-Narcotics Bureau, in a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), intercepted the lorry and one car near Mission Bhagiratha water plant in Mahbubnagar district, apprehended five persons, Raju Ambadas Shinde, Balaji Arjun Kale, Nikhil Nandakumar Ghawali, Madhukar Arjun Kale, and Sanjay Ravindra Chowhan, and seized 208 kg of ganja, lorry, car all worth Rs 1 cr.
