Herdsmen trapped as authorities open Musi project gates without warning
Herdsmen in Nalgonda's Bheemaram village were caught in floods after Musi project gates were opened without prior notice.
NALGONDA: Several herdsmen were trapped in floodwaters after authorities opened the gates of the Musi project without issuing any warnings in Nalgonda district's Bheemaram village on Sunday. The sudden release of water into the Musi River caught the herdsmen, who were tending to their livestock, off guard.
As floodwaters surged, around 20 buffaloes were reportedly washed away. Police were alerted and rushed to the scene, where they began rescue operations with the help of a proclainer to save the trapped herdsmen. Efforts to extract them from the rising waters are ongoing, and further details are awaited.
