HYDERABAD: Hyderabad has seen an increase in Cybercrimes, chain snatching, cheating, house theft, automobile theft, and robbery crimes this year, while murders, rape, dacoity, and kidnappings have decreased in 2022.

Cyber crime was on the rise, with 2249 cases reported this year compared to 2066 last year, said Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CV Anand, speaking to the media at the Annual Police Round-up 2022.

According to the annual round-up, 22060 cases were registered under IPC, SLL, and other than IPC in 2022, compared to 21998 cases in 2021. The number of cybercrime cases registered in 2022 is 2249, compared to 2066 cases in 2021.

The number of grave property cases registered in 2022 increased slightly from 2238 in 2021 to 2915. The number of crime (POCSO) cases against children registered in 2022 is 350, down from 399 in 2021. The number of Cybercrime cases registered in 2022 is 2249, up from 2066 in 2021.

There was a significant increase in drunk driving cases booked in Hyderabad in 2022 compared to 2021. In 2021, 29,398 cases of drunken driving were booked, while 42,634 cases were booked in 2022.

In the year 2022, 15 were sentenced to life in prison, five accused received a 20-year sentence, one accused received a 15-year sentence, and seven accused received a 10-year sentence, and 60 were imprisoned for more than three years.

CV Anand stated that the police had ensured that crime was under control and that all wings took several steps to keep the city peaceful. According to him, the police ensured the peaceful conduct of all major events, such as festivals, meetings, and political gatherings.

Highlights of the year 2022

  • The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Narcotics Investigation Supervision Wing (NISW) of the Hyderabad City Police were established in 2022.
  • The Telangana State Police Integrated Command and Control Centre (TSPICCC), a first of its kind, was inaugurated in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
  • To ensure a smooth flow of traffic in 2022, the Hyderabad Traffic Police implemented 'Operation ROPE' (Road Obstructive Parking and Encroachment) to remove encroachments on major city roads and penalise traffic violators.
  • A total of 382 police constables, including 42 women, of Hyderabad City were promoted to the rank of head constable at the piping ceremony, held for the first time in Hyderabad City.
  • There were 265 community CCTV cameras installed, as well as 45,837 Nenu Saitham CCTV cameras, 886 CCTV cameras installed as part of the Safe City Project, and 974 cameras installed as part of the Safe City Project (Nirbhaya). The total number of CCTV camera installations surpassed 47962.
  • Hyderabad police commissioner sanctioned advanced technology spy cameras, spy glasses, and other equipment and handed them over to all SHE Teams in order to increase efficiency to the next level.
