Dreaded kidnapper nabbed in Anantapuram district
Most wanted criminal Sunkara Prasad Naidu has been arrested along with 13 others by the Anantapuram police in connection with a kidnap case.
HYDERABAD: Most wanted criminal Sunkara Prasad Naidu has been arrested along with 13 others by the Anantapur police in connection with a kidnap case. Sunkara Prasad Naidu faces charges of kidnapping one Venkatesh, a leaf merchant, from G Kottu in Guntakal and demanding a ransom of Rs 1 crore from his family for his safe release.
On the orders of District Superintendent of Police Fakkirappa, Guntakal DSP plunged into action and appointed a special team to nab Naidu and his accomplices. Guntakal Rural Inspector Laxman, along with his team, arrested the kidnappers gang at Obulapuram near Done and freed the victim from their clutches. The special team seized one pistol and 16 bullets besides a four-wheeler and a motorcycle from them. Rs. 6.50 lakh in cash was also recovered from their possession..
According to District SP Fakirappa, Sunkara Prasad Naidu has a criminal history of more than two decades with about 11 cases registered against him in the two Telugu states. The cases are related to murder, kidnapping, extortion and theft. Sunkara Prasad was fascinated by one Mohan Naidu of Guntakal mandal whose interviews he watched and resorted to criminal activities.
After being approached, he had involved himself in the crimes with those who were also arrested with him in this case. The district SP congratulated Guntakal DSP's team for apprehending Sunkara Prasad Naidu and his gang and appealed to the public to contact the police if they ever received any threats from the gang.
