HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad Police solved the murder case of a young boy wherein Instagram was used as a tool to commit the offence.

All five accused arrested in the case are between the ages of 18 and 23, while the deceased, Mohd Faheem, was 20 years old.

The murder occurred on March 5 at about 7:45 pm within the jurisdiction of Attapur Police Station.

The victim, Mohd Faheem, a painter, was a resident of Shaheen Nagar, Barkas, in the Old City of Hyderabad. The main accused, Mohd Yaseen, is a resident of Kala Pather in the same vicinity. According to the police, Yaseen had developed animosity with Faheem when he used to reside in the same locality.

On February 25, during Shab-e-Baraat, while in the Shaheen Nagar area, Yaseen had an argument with Faheem's brother. Consequently, Faheem confronted Yasin, and later, the issue was resolved with the intervention of elders.

This incident angered Yaseen, leading him to hatch a plan for revenge against Faheem. He created a fake Instagram ID with the name 'Neha Khan' and initiated a chat with Faheem under the guise of friendship. Yaseen sent a dating request message. On March 3, Faheem again had an altercation with Yaseen in the Shaheen Nagar area. Consequently, Yaseen informed his friends Obaidi Qureshi (18), Mohammed Abdul Minhaj (20), Mohd Qayyum (19), and Mohd Faheem (23) about his plan to eliminate the victim, Faheem, seeking their assistance.

According to their plan, on March 5, at about 11 am, Yaseen used the fake Instagram ID to invite Faheem to Koyo Qayyum Barwe Imam Pahad at Chintalmet in the evening. Faheem fell into the trap and reached the location. Yaseen and the other accused brutally stabbed him and threw a boulder on his face, resulting in his immediate death.

DCP Rajendranagar Zone Ch Srinivas appreciated the investigation conducted by Attapur SHO G Venkata Rami Reddy, Rajendranagar SOT Inspector Ramana Reddy, and other police officials, leading to the arrests of all five accused in the case.
