Land grabbing by Congress leader drives farmer to attempt suicide
A farmer from Dammakkapalli, Siddipet, attempted suicide after being harassed by a Congress leader demanding Rs 20 lakh.
SIDDIPET: A farmer from Dammakkapalli in the Kondapaka Mandal of Siddipet-Gajwel constituency attempted suicide due to relentless harassment allegedly by a local Congress leader.
Agam Reddy, allegedly a close associate of former Gajwel MLA and Siddipet District DCC President T Narsa Reddy, has been pressuring Bandi Peddaolla Kishtayya's family to relinquish part of their land.
Kishtayya's wife, Kanakavva, alleged that Agam Reddy, leveraging his political connections, threatened them, claiming they could do nothing against him. Despite Kishtayya's application to the government surveyor to demarcate his land, Agam Reddy intimidated the surveyor into providing a false report.
Feeling helpless and wronged, Kishtayya pleaded for justice, but Agam Reddy remained unyielding, demanding Rs 20 lakh to vacate the land and threatening to expel Kishtayya's family from the village.
Overwhelmed by the situation, Kishtayya consumed pesticides on his farm. Alerted by locals and family members, he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
