Lorry driver rescues newborn buried alive in Hanamkonda district
Despite being buried for at least an hour, doctors found the baby alive. Her condition is currently stable.
HANAMKONDA: A newborn baby girl, buried alive due to her gender, was rescued by a quick-thinking lorry driver in the village of Urugonda, Damera mandal, in Hanamkonda district, on Monday.
The lorry driver, whose name has not been released, noticed unusual movement in the ground and decided to investigate. After digging, he found a newborn baby buried in the soil. He enlisted the help of some nearby NREGA workers to carefully extract the baby from the ground. On receiving information, local police rushed to the scene and transported the infant to MGM Hospital in Warangal. Despite being buried for at least an hour, doctors found the baby alive. Her condition is currently stable, and she is expected to fully recover.
The police have registered a case and have launched an investigation to find those responsible for this cruel act.
Thanks to the swift action of the lorry driver and the NREGA workers, a life was saved, turning a tragic event into a story of hope. The baby is receiving the necessary medical care and is under close observation.
