HYDERABAD: A family in KPHB Colony of Hyderabad was flattered and deceived.., quite literally..! Their house was burgled by two Nepalis, who entered their house as maid servants eight months ago and gradually earned their trust. A total of Rs 30 lakh in cash and gold worth another Rs 30 lakh were stolen in the incident.

According to the Kukatpally police, Chakradhar and Sita, the accused, gained entry into the house of V Damodar Rao, a resident of Vivekananda Nagar, posing as wife and husband. They also have a three-year-old son. Since the time they were employed as maid servants, they had been in the good books of Damodar Rao's family and tricked them into gradually believing them.

All three lived in the servant's room located on the same premises. The three went on a visit to Nagpur on July 2 and came back to the city on July 10. They were however accompanied by a stranger on their return.

On the night of July 12, Damodar Rao's family received the shock of their life when they returned home at 11:30 pm after attending a marriage in Kompally. They found the backdoor of their house broken. The money and gold was missing and so too was the trio of Chakradhar and Sita and the unknown accomplice. The CCTV footage showed the accused breaking into the house from back side. They tried to mask the CCTV cameras using a cloth before carrying on with their burglary.

Based on a complaint from the family, the Kukatpally police tracked their movement upto Lakdi-ka-pool using CCTV footage. After stepping out of the house at 9:30 pm, they walked up a fair distance before engaging an auto-rickshaw at 9:40 pm. They got down at Lakdi-ka-pool at 10:15 pm. But the police trail could not go any further as the accused switched off their mobile phones. With no further clues, the police are now probing to see if the trio had already fled to their homeland Nepal or are still hiding somewhere in the city to escape the police dragnet. A total of six teams have been tasked with nabbing the three offenders.
