Man slits daughter's throat in yet another honour killing in Telangana

PEBBERU (TELANGANA): In a gruesome incident, a young girl was killed by her own father in what appears to be yet another case of honour killing, in Wanaparthy district of Telangana. The barbaric incident happened at Pathapalli village of Pebberu mandal in the district on Tuesday and came to light on Wednesday.

As per the accounts of the villagers and the police, the victim was the daughter of Rajasekhar and Sunitha, who are residents of Peddapalli. The girl, whose name was not immediately known, was studying 10th standard in Pebberu. She reportedly fell in love with a teenaged boy of the same village some time back. Rajasekhar is learnt to have had a big quarrel with his daughter on the same issue on Tuesday.

He seethed in anger feeling that his daughter was causing serious damage to their family's pride and honour in the village with her alleged love affair. In a fit of rage during their altercation, Rajasekhar reportedly slit the throat of his daughter with a sharp-edged weapon, leading to her instantaneous death. The gruesome act of honour killing by the heartless father has sent shockwaves across the district.

Pebberu Deputy Superintendent of Police Anand Reddy visited the scene of offence. Rajasekhar was reported to have been taken into custody by the police. A case has been registered and the investigation is underway, the DSP added.
