NALGONDA: The suspicious death of Jal Rajitha, a 31-year-old woman from Molakalapalli village in Gurrempodu mandal, Nagarjuna Sagar constituency, has been confirmed as a case of murder.

Nalgonda District Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarath Chandra Pawar has taken the case seriously, leading to the revelation of shocking details implicating both local community leaders and police officers in attempting to cover up the crime.

The investigation revealed that Rajitha was brutally murdered, with her body first being subjected to physical abuse before being staged as a suicide. The perpetrators, identified as Jal Ramulu, his wife Parvathamma, and a relative named Venkataiah, allegedly assaulted Rajitha with chilli powder spread over her body, then hanged her from a ceiling fan to simulate a suicide. The motive behind the killing is reported to be linked to an extramarital affair.

Adding to the controversy, it has come to light that a circle-level police officer leaked private conversations of the deceased, tarnishing her character. Locals have accused the officer of trying to cover up the murder to protect the perpetrators.

The initial investigation conducted by local police was reportedly fraught with attempts to shield the accused at every stage. The involvement of influential community members is believed to have led the case astray, with the authorities initially presenting the incident as a suicide. The lack of powerful advocates on behalf of the victim's family made it difficult for them to fight against the manipulation by village leaders and law enforcement.

The turning point in the case came when District SP Sarath Chandra Pawar intervened, confirming that Rajitha was indeed murdered. This revelation has prompted demands from the local community for criminal cases to be filed against the local Sub-Inspector (SI), Circle Inspector (CI), and village leaders involved in the cover-up.

The villagers are now calling for justice, demanding that those responsible for the cover-up and mishandling of the case be held accountable.
