'Nirbhaya'-type rape in Hyderabad: Private bus driver commits heinous crime

HYDERABAD: In a horrifying incident that raises serious concerns about women's safety, a private bus driver in Hyderabad raped a female passenger while the bus was moving. The incident took place on a bus travelling from Sangareddy to Prakasam district.

The accused driver allegedly approached the young woman while she was sleeping and sexually assaulted her after gagging her to stifle any cries for help. Shockingly, the assault occurred while the bus was in motion, with 36 other passengers on board.

When the bus reached Medchal, the victim managed to call the police emergency number (100) and report the crime. Hyderabad Police intercepted the bus near the Osmania University area and apprehended the driver based on her complaint. The victim was taken to a government hospital for a medical examination.

Police have taken two drivers of Harikrishna Travel into custody and seized the bus. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
