HYDERABAD: One person was killed after being hit by a SUV on the national highway near Atvelli under Medchal Police Station limits on Tuesday. According to reports, the ill-fated vehicle belongs to Telangana State Forest Development Corporation Limited (TSFDCL) Chairman Vanteru Pratap Reddy.

It was not clear if the TSFDCL chairman was inside the vehicle at the time of the mishap or was being used by others. The identity of the deceased was also not immediately known. The Medchal police, on being informed, rushed to the accident site and shifted the body to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination.

They also cleared the road for road traffic by shifting the SUV to the police station. However, the police were left in a quandary after realising that the vehicle was yet to be permanently registered and was being used with the T/R sticker, a temporary registration number assigned by the dealer at the time of purchase.

It is reported that though the vehicle was bought quite some time ago, it remained unregistered for a permanent number until now.
