Students lodge complaint against RTC conductor for harassment
Female students allege harassment by conductors over Aadhaar card issues on RTC buses in Rangareddy district.
HYDERABAD: Female students in Rangareddy district have lodged a formal complaint against an RTC bus conductor, accusing him of harassment and abusive behaviour.
The complaint, filed on Wednesday with the Shadnagar RTC depot manager, details disturbing allegations that the conductor has been mistreating young female passengers under the guise of enforcing the free travel scheme.
The students, who travel daily from Shadnagar to Sangem village in Keshampet Mandal for their studies, reported that the conductor repeatedly harassed them by demanding their Aadhaar cards and finding fault with them. According to the students, the conductor would claim that the Aadhaar photos were unclear or that the cards were outdated, using these as pretexts to abuse them verbally and, in some instances, force them off the bus mid-journey.
The aggrieved students described how the conductor would stop the bus and use foul language if they were even slightly delayed in retrieving their Aadhaar cards from their bags. Frustrated and distressed by the repeated harassment, the students reported the conductor's behaviour to the authorities.
In their complaint, the students demanded immediate disciplinary action against the conductor for his misconduct. The Shadnagar RTC depot manager assured them that an investigation would be conducted and appropriate action would be taken against the accused conductor.
