HYDERABAD: In a horrifying incident, a one-and-a-half-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Jawahar Nagar, Medchal district, on Tuesday night.

The victim, Vihaan, was playing outside his house when a group of stray dogs attacked him. The dogs dragged him for some distance before inflicting fatal injuries. The boy sustained severe injuries, including head trauma, and succumbed to his injuries.

Vihaan's parents, Bharat and Lakshmi, had moved to Hyderabad from Miridoddi village in Siddipet district a month ago in search of work. They were staying at Lakshmi's brother's house in Adarsh Nagar, Jawahar Nagar.

The incident occurred around 7 pm on Tuesday when Vihaan was playing outside the house. A pack of stray dogs suddenly attacked the child, dragging him away. A local resident, who noticed the commotion, rushed to the spot and chased the dogs away. He found Vihaan lying unconscious with severe injuries and alerted his parents.

Vihaan was rushed to a local hospital and later shifted to the Gandhi Hospital's emergency ward for better treatment. However, the boy succumbed to his injuries around 9:30 pm.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who allege that the authorities have turned a blind eye to the growing menace of stray dogs in the area. They claim that no action has been taken to address the issue despite repeated complaints.
