HYDERABAD: Two farmers from Telangana died by suicide due to financial distress caused by agricultural debts. The incidents were reported from Jangaon and Ranga Reddy districts.

In Jangaon district's Lingala Ghanapuram mandal, 45-year-old Mekala Mallesham, a farmer from Kishtaguden, took his life by consuming pesticide on Tuesday. Mallesham had been cultivating cotton on 8 acres and paddy on 1 acre. However, his crops failed, leaving him burdened with unmanageable debts.

In a separate incident, Nandigama Narasimha, a 55-year-old farmer from Mir Khanpet village in Kandukur mandal, Ranga Reddy district, consumed pesticide on Sunday due to heavy debts. Narsimha had been growing paddy on 2 acres.
