Unaccounted gold and silver worth Rs 2 crores seized, Two arrested
Seized property was handed over to the Income Tax Department as the accused persons failed to provide valid documentation.
HYDERABAD: In a significant operation, the Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone Team, Hyderabad City, in collaboration with Chilkalaguda Police, apprehended two individuals and seized unaccounted gold ornaments and silver items worth Rs 2 crores.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bajjuri Purnachander (49), a businessman from Mettuguda, Secunderabad, and Syed Baba Shareef (25), a driver from Warangal. Seized items include 2.5 kg of gold and diamond jewellery, approximately 1 kg of silver, a Honda WR-V car, and three cell phones.
Acting on credible information, on June 14, the Task Force intercepted the duo while they were transporting unaccounted gold ornaments and silver items in a Honda WR-V car near Aparna Oosmans Everest Apartments, Mettuguda, Secunderabad. Upon inquiry, the individuals failed to provide valid documentation for the large quantity of gold and silver they were carrying. Consequently, the items were seized and handed over to the Income Tax Department for further action.
Sub-Inspectors B. Ashok Reddy, Srinivasulu Dasu, and P. Gnanadeep of the North Zone Task Force, along with their team, executed the operation.
Commissioner’s Task Force Deputy Commissioner of Police S Rashmi Perumal commended the team for their swift and effective action in apprehending the suspects and seizing the unaccounted valuables.
