VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam City Police has brought cheer to the people who lost their mobile phones by actively recovering and handing it back to their owners.

Visakhapatnam Commissioner Trivikram Varma said that a team of police, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP Crime) Naganna. worked relentlessly and recovered 230 mobile phones amounting to a whopping Rs 50 lakh.

He said that the City Crime Station (CCS) team analysed the technical aspects with the help of TechCell data to locate and recover mobile phones that were lost by users from various locations. The Commissioner who produced the recovered mobiles in a media conference said that the phones were found operative in various states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Telangana, and was later handed over to the rightful owners.

The Commissioner said that the public could report a lost mobile phone without visiting the police station. He asked them to send an SMS with "Hi" to the mobile number (9490617916) and fill in the details of the form that appears on mobile through which police can receive the necessary information to initiate the recovery process without the need for filing an FIR or visiting the police station.
