KCR announces two days holidays to educational institutions in view of heavy rains

The Chief Minister made this decision since the India Meteorological Department(IMD) has issued an Orange and Red heavy rainfall alert for next two days

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao asked State Education Minister Sabita Indra Reddy on Tuesday to declare two-day holidays (Wednesday and Thursday) in the wake of severe rains and to issue orders as soon as possible.

The Chief Minister made this decision since the India Meteorological Department(IMD) has issued an Orange and Red heavy rainfall alert for Telangana state for the next two days.

In light of heavy rains in the city, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) cautioned residents to stay indoors and avoid venturing outside unless absolutely necessary.

The Mehdipatnam circle received the most rain (4.3 cm), followed by the Karwan circle (1.9cm), and Chandanagar circle (0.8cm).

The GHMC received 103 complaints of stagnation, of which 93 were resolved and 10 are still being processed. They also got 23 complaints about tree falls, of which 22 were resolved.
