Kamal Haasan congratulates Suriya on his Academy invitation

Recently, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited 397 artists and executives to be members of the fraternity. Actors Suriya, Kajol, directors Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas (Writing With Fire) and Reema Kagti (Peepli Live and Talaash) are among the Indians who were invited to be a part of the Academy.

After Rajinikanth and Dhanush, Suriya is the third Tamil actor who got this honour. On this special occasion, his Vikram co-star and legendary actor Kamal Haasan congratulated Suriya. "Glad my brother @Suriya_offl treads the ground of stars. In spite of gravity, which makes wings weak. We created angels and stars. Hence be a proud brother to join the crowd of excellence," tweeted Kamal.

"Thank you anna," humbly replied Suriya. He also thanked the Academy for giving him this invite. "Thank you @TheAcademy for the invitation, which I humbly accept. My heartfelt thanks to all those who wished me, will always strive to make you all proud!!" he tweeted.

Both Suriya and Kamal Haasan have recently acted together in the film Vikram. Suriya made a cameo in the climax of this movie. After its success, Kamal also gifted a Rolex Watch to Suriya, who will be seen as the main villain in Vikram's sequel.
