HYDERABAD: MapMyGenome, a preventive genomics company, on Friday announced the launch of BeautyMap, a revolutionary DNA-based test that provides personalized recommendations for skin and hair care products based on an individual's unique genetic makeup.

The test will be available in the Indian market from April 30, 2023, at an affordable price of Rs.6,999.

BeautyMap is the first of its kind in India and aims to help people achieve their beauty goals by understanding their genetic predispositions to 40 conditions related to skin and hair care such as acne, hair loss, sun damage, hydration, sleep habits, and vitamin levels, among others.

BeautyMap also offers genetic counseling sessions with board-certified genetic counselors who help individuals interpret their results and make informed decisions about their personalized beauty regimen from the BeautyMap report.

"We're thrilled to introduce BeautyMap to the Indian consumers who are looking for a more scientific and customized approach to their skin and hair care," said Anu Acharya, CEO of Mapmygenome.

"Our mission at Mapmygenome is to empower people to make informed decisions about their health and wellness based on their DNA. BeautyMap is an extension of that mission and a game-changer in the beauty industry."

The test is simple and non-invasive, requiring only a saliva sample. As part of MapMyGenome’s HarGharDna initiative, the test kit will be delivered directly to people’s homes.

The sample is then analyzed in Mapmygenome's state-of-the-art laboratory. The results are delivered to the individual in an easy-to-understand report that includes personalized recommendations for skincare and hair care products through a genetic counseling session.

Anu Acharya said: "We want to empower people to feel good and look good in their own skin. Our BeautyMap test gives personalized suggestions based on one's DNA to improve their skin and hair health. We hope to see that this innovative product will transform the beauty industry and the lives of our customers."

The BeautyMap test can be purchased from Mapmygenome’s website or from selected partners such as Clinikally, Amazon and other ecommerce platforms etc.
