Assault on 4-year-old: Private driver booked under POSCO Act

HYDERABAD: A driver was arrested by the Bajara Hills police station for allegedly assaulting a four-year-old kindergarten student. According to reports, the driver has been harassing the student for the past two months.

The parents allegedly noticed a change in their daughter's behaviour, but she was unable to explain what had actually happened. The Banjara Hills police station has opened an investigation under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act of 2012.

Reports state that the driver was operating a vehicle owned by a school official. However, when the parents discovered that their child was depressed and crying, they filed a police complaint demanding strict action against the accused.

Inspector M Narender, Station House Officer (SHO), told Newstap, "We received a complaint from the victim's parents today around 4:30pm against the driver; we registered a case under the POCSO act, and further investigation is underway."
