Balapur Ganesh laddu auctioned for a record Rs 24.6 lakhs
The Balapur Ganesh Laddu has been auctioned at a rate of Rs 24,60,000 and the highest bidder was Vangeti Laxma Reddy.

HYDERABAD: The Balapur Ganesh Laddu has been auctioned at a rate of Rs 24,60,000 and the highest bidder was Ranga Reddy Farmers' association convener Vangeti Laxma Reddy. Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, former MLA Thigala Krishna Reddy, ZP chairperson Thigala Anita Reddy and other political leaders participated in the programme held on Friday.
Balapur Ganesha holds a special place in Hyderabad Ganesh festivals. The laddu weighed 21 kg ever since it was being auctioned. The auction fetched record prices since 1994. Initially, the laddu costed only Rs.450 and rose to being auctioned for in lakhs of rupees.
Last year, the price of Balapur Laddu was bidded at Rs.18.90 lakh in the auction. Marri Shashank Reddy and MLC Ramesh Yadav bought the Balapur Laddu.
The Balapur Ganesh Laddu auction went on for 26 years without any interruption. This year too, the auction was started after performing pooja to Lord Ganesh. A total of 28 people participated in the auction held this time.
