Five of Hyderabad family killed in accident in Bidar

BIDAR: Five members of a family hailing from Hyderabad were killed and five others injured in a ghastly road accident on the National Highway near Bangur of Bidar Taluk in Katnataka on Monday. The mishap occurred when the family was proceeding to Dattatreya temple in Kalaburagi district for a darshan of the presiding deity there.

About 10 members of the same family and residents of Begumpet in Hyderabad set off on the temple visit in a multi-utility vehicle (MUV). After reaching Bangur, their car collided with container lorry, resulting in fatalities and grievous injuries.

The deceased were identified as Giridhar (45), Priya (15), Anita (30), Mahek (2) and their driver Jagadish (35). The injured, Geetha, Rajitha, Prabhavathi, Shalini and Harshavardhana, were admitted to the district hospital.

A case has been registered at Manhalli Police Station in Bidar Taluk.
