HYDERABAD: Heavy Rains lashed Hyderabad once again since early hours of Tuesday, flooding several low-lying areas of the city. The heavy downpour resulted in waterlogging with many drains overflowing as well at several places. As a result, flood and drainage water have entered these areas on the suburbs of the city, making life miserable for the residents. The weather department officials said that the rains were likely to continue on Tuesday.

The GHMC Monsoon emergency teams have been pressed into service to drain out floodwater with the help of portable motors in these localities.

Hastinapuram recorded the highest rainfall of 9.8 cm in the city, followed by 8.9 cm in Malakpet, 8.8 cm in Kurmaguda, 8.7 cm in Jhansi Bazar, 8.5 cm in Charminar and Narayanguda, 8.1 cm in Nampally, 7.7 cm in LB Nagar and 7.5 cm in Vijayanagar colony. Other areas also recorded an average rainfall of 5 cm.

The inflows at Hussain Sagar reached its maximum water level of 514.75 metres as against the full tank level (FTL) 513.41 metres. In Himayath Sagar, the water level rose to 1,760.75 feet with an inflow of 324 cusecs and outflow of 330 cusecs. One gate was lifted partially to allow the discharge of water downstream. Due to the increase in the inflow at Osman Sagar, six gates have been lifted by about four feet to release water from the reservoir.

Meanwhile, in a latest update, the DGM of Osmansagar informed that eight gates of the reservoir had been raised up to a height of 5 feet at 3 pm on Tuesday and an outflow of 3,968 cusecs was downstream.
