Hyderabad police arrest social media influencer for caustic remarks
Social media influencer Syed Abdahu Kashaf was detained by Hyderabad City Police on Thursday for allegedly making objectionable statements that incited violence and promoted animosity between various groups.
HYDERABAD: Social media influencer Syed Abdahu Kashaf was detained by Hyderabad City Police on Thursday for allegedly making objectionable statements that incited violence and promoted animosity between various groups.
In a statement released on Thursday, Hyderabad city police said that he tweeted a highly inflammatory statement under the username @syedkashaf95 with the intent to incite political unrest in the city.
A suo-motu cognizance was taken and a case was registered under Cyber Crime police station. The Hyderabad police carried out a swift investigation and collected the evidence against him. Reportedly, the accused further tried to gather people and incite violence in the city.
On the other hand, Syed Abdahu Kashaf was booked under Sections 153(A), 505(2) & 504 of IPC and. He was, however, released on personal bond.
The investigation will be completed soon, according to Hyderabad city police, and charge sheet filed.
In addition, a case was registered against one Rashid Khan under sections 153(A), 505(2), and 504 of the Indian Penal Code for making an inflammatory statement and fostering animosity between different religious groups. An investigation is currently underway, and strict legal action will be taken against him based on the information acquired.
The Hyderabad police have also urged anyone, from any community, not to make any such offensive and objectionable comments while attempting to disrupt peace in Hyderabad city.
Anyone attempting to do so will face strong deterrence and serious punishment from Hyderabad city police. According to reports, the Hyderabad police are tracking those who have posted such provocative videos.
