HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government, as part of the Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP), is spending above Rs 700 crore for developing roads in LB Nagar and Uppal areas. Out of the 11 projects sanctioned for these areas, nine major projects to minimise traffic problems were successfully implemented, said Telangana IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao on Wednesday.

He inaugurated the newly constructed 990-metre Nagole flyover which had six bi-directional lanes. The estimated cost of the bridge was Rs.143 crore and it would enable free signal access for the public from Uppal to LB Nagar areas. Additionally, it would benefit people who would commute from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Aramghar, LB Nagar, and Uppal.

This was the 16th flyover that was completed under the SRDP.

"Just a few years ago, travelling between Hyderabad to Vijayawada via LB Nagar or Uppal to Bairamalguda was a major task because of traffic congestion. After the SRDP projects were made, a lot of that has now been eliminated. In the LB Nagar constituency, Rs 600 crore plus funds were used to eliminate drinking water problems too. After the recent floods, 11 Strategic Nala Development Program projects were also sanctioned. The Telangana Government understands the growing population of Hyderabad and is working towards developing it at an equal pace," said KTR.

In the LB Nagar constituency the following works were completed:

Chintalkunta Check Post underpass - Rs 14.41 crore

Kamineni Hospital left flyover- Rs 25.22 crore

Kamineni Hospital right flyover - Rs 25.22 crore

LB Nagar left underpass - Rs 9.28 crore

LB Nagar right underpass - Rs 9.28 crore

Bairamalguda left flyover- Rs 26.34 crore

Bairamalguda right flyover - Rs 26.34 crore

LB Nagar left flyover - Rs 22.55 crore
