Leopard strayed into Hetero Drugs factory captured, sent to zoo

HYDERABAD: A leopard was caught, after the employees of Hetero Drugs Limited, Kazipally industrial Estate, informed the forest officials about sighting the animal in one of their manufacturing plant on Saturday. The leopard was identified as a male leopard aged four to five years.

The employees had observed a leopard moving in one of their manufacturing plant on Friday night. The staff captured the leopard in a video and immediately informed the District Forest officer (DFO) of the Sanga Reddy district. The DFO, Sridhar Rao, along with other concerned Forest Range Officers and field staff reached the premises of the organisation and reviewed the situation.

The leopard was found moving in a large plant area of 100-feet length among the machinery and other equipment. The DFO contacted the forest officials in the Head Office for seeking permission to capture the Leopard.

A team, headed by Dr. Naveen, caught the Leopard in a trap cage, on Saturday afternoon. After several attempts, the Leopard was successfully tranquilized and shifted to a transport cage. The animal was later taken to Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad for a thorough medical check-up

The Leopard, after the approval of a doctor, would be re-located to Amrabad Tiger Reserve and would be released in Mannanur Range, which was said to be a suitable habitat for the Leopard.
