HYDERABAD: A protest was staged outside Premier Hospital in Mehdipatnam on Monday by angry family members of a patient who died after prolonged treatment. Jai Kishan Gangaputra (54) from Sabji Mandi area breathed his last while undergoing treatment. Claiming that he died due to the negligence of the medical staff, the family members squatted in front of the hospital demanding justice.

According to the family members, the hospital collected Rs 16 lakhs towards treatment charges. They alleged that, despite spending the money, Jai Kishan was not provided with proper medical facilities and there were no attendants as well.

With the family's protest causing tension, police intervened and tried to pacify them. But the unrelenting relatives of the deceased continued their protest and demanded that Premier Hospital head Dr Mahesh Madra come to the hospital and talk to them. The family also sought the intervention of the State Government and to take serious action against the hospital management.
