Police fervour: CP Anand plays Bathukamma with enthusiasm

HYDERABAD: Around 1200 women police personnel, along with their wards, participated in Bathukamma Celebrations held at City Police Commissionerate, TSPICCC.

The women cops bedecked the place with beautiful flowers that speak of the culture of Telangana.

The ambience was lively as the women officers beginning from home guard to DCP clapped hands in unison and sang 'Bathukamma songs' around a huge flowery conical idol made for the purpose .

Commissioner of City police CV Anand attended the event along with his wife Lalita Anand and extended his wishes. He along with many senior officers, Anand participated in the celebrations.

Recalling his childhood memories of the festival, he said: "For the last two decades, the festival was largely celebrated in the rural areas of Telangana.

Ever since the State government declared Bathukamma as state festival, people in urban areas and Telugu diaspora across the world also started celebrating it with gusto."

"All Bandobust arrangements are in place for Navratri celebrations," he said.

Addl CP AR Srinivas, Jt CPs M.Ramesh, P.Viswa Prasad, Kartikeya, DCPs Joel Davis, Chaitanya, Sunitha Reddy and other officers participated in the celebrations.
