Police Flag Day: Mahesh Bhagwat opens martyrs memorial

HYDERABAD: Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat on Friday inaugurated the police martyr's memorial and paid floral tributes during the Police Flag Day celebration that was held at CAR Headquarters.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Bhagwat said that thousands of policemen lost their lives in the line of duty across the country and reminded everyone that the Police Commemoration Day had been observed in memory of 10 CRPF Soldiers, who sacrificed their lives in an ambush by Chinese troops at Hot Springs in Ladakh on October 21, 1959. "The Police Commemoration Day is being observed as Police Flag Day from the year 2020," he said.

"Policemen dedicated their lives to keep the country peaceful and till August 31 this year, 264 police personnel have sacrificed their lives on duty in the country. In the Rachakonda Commissionerate, 16 policemen have lost their lives on duty," said the Commissioner.

Numerous safety measures have been taken up for the welfare of Rachakonda Police that includes special medical camps, free Covid vaccination for police personnel and their family members and family health check-up camps. "The Rachakonda Commissionerate has conducted blood donation camps so extensively that it received the highest blood donations award-2022 from the Governor of Telangana on world blood donors' day," said the Commissioner.

Mahesh Bhagwat further thanked the State Government for the special allowances being offered to the police working in special wings like traffic, intelligence, training, octopus and others.

Various activities including blood donation camps, essay-writing competitions, online open house, photography and short film competition would be organized during the observance of Police Flag Day from 21 to 31 October 2021 across the Rachakonda Commissionerate.
