HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader Renuka Choudhary held a sub-inspector of police by the collar in a rage near the Raj Bhavan Road in Hyderabad on Thursday. The former Union Minister, in the process of protest, dared the police holding the SI by the collar when the police were trying to arrest her. The leader entered into an altercation with the police amidst the protests organised the Congress party in Khairtabad. She accused the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi of wreaking a havoc at the protest site.The Congress workers, who trooped into Raj Bhavan Road, burned down a two-wheeler and destroyed a TSRTC bus. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A Revanth Reddy and many other party leaders were also detained by the police, following their attempt to enter the Raj Bhavan Road.

A case was registered against Choudhary and Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy under IPC sections 151, 140, 147, 149, 341, 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), according to Niranjan Reddy, Inspector, Punjagutta.

The Congress party gave a 'chalo Raj Bhavan' call on Thursday to protest against the questioning of the party's former president Rahul Gandhi for a fourth day in a row by the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi in the National Herald case.

The Raj Bhavan area was barricaded by the police to keep the chaos under control. The mob, however, pushed through the barriers and went on to create a ruckus.
