Shilpa layout flyover to ease traffic congestion near ORR

HYDERABAD: To relieve the traffic congestions at Gachibowli, Financial District, Hitech City and surrounding areas, the 17th project under the Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP), the Shilpa Layout Flyover, is all set to be launched in the last week of November.

The Telangana Government introduced the SRDP to solve traffic problems in the city, under which 16 various road projects like flyovers vehicular under and over passes were already completed and 31 projects were underway.

The Shilpa Layout Flyover, 17th project under construction, which starts from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) is 956 metres long and would ease traffic coming from and going towards the Hyderabad International Airport.

From ORR to the previous Gachibowli flyover to Shilpa layout and from there to ORR on the other side connecting both sides a total flyover of 956 meters length and 16.60 meters width was taken up. Two flyovers have been constructed with a width of 456.64 meters from up ramp O.R.R to Shilpa Lay Out Flyover and 399.952 m wide down ramp flyover from Shilpa Layout to O.R.R. A 473 meter long 8.50 meter wide up ramp flyover has been constructed from Bade Gachibowli to Mind Space, which is used as a service road. Similarly, the down ramp flyover from Mind Space to Gachibowli is 522 meters long and 8.50 meters wide.

This Shilpa layout flyover will increase road connectivity between the finance district and the hi-tech city. Gachibowli Junction traffic problems will be relieved. Development is likely to increase in HKC and Meenakshi Tower area. As part of Stage 2 of the project, another work is going on from ORR to Kondapur with a length of 816 meters and a width of 24 meters.

Adjacent to the old Gachibowli flyover, the up ramp towards Kondapur is 475 meters long and 12 meters wide flyover, and the down ramp from Kondapur to Gachibowli is 305 meters long and 12 meters wide. This Kondapur flyover will be completed by July 2023. It can be said that the public transport system will be further improved due to the accessibility of each of the works undertaken by SRDP on all sides of Hyderabad.
