Acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam is currently occupied with the works of his upcoming directorial Ponniyin Selvan. He termed it his dream project in many of his interviews. Ponniyin Selvan is a period epic that is adapted from the novel of the same name.
Meanwhile, the makers have released the first look poster of Vikram from the film. He plays the role of Chola Prince Aditya Karikalan. Sharing his poster, the makers tweeted, "Welcome the Chola Crown Prince! The Fierce Warrior. The Wild Tiger. Aditya Karikalan!"

Ponniyin Selvan features Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Shobita Dhulipala in the other lead roles. Rahman, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, and Lal play other important roles in the movie. The first part of the film will be released on September 30, 2022. It is being produced jointly by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. AR Rahman is composing the music for it.
